Good To Be Back

I have spent the past two weeks doing extensive remodeling of our home. I have done enough drywalling, painting, scraping, sanding, cutting, trimming, nailing, and clean-up to know a couple things. It is wonderful to have people around you who know what they are doing and are skilled at what they do. Thank you Jason for great work! I have also learned that there are many things I cannot do by myself. Janet and the kids were a wonderful help as well as Dan and Nick who pitched in at critical moments. Thank you! There are plain parallels to ministry in getting the right people in the right positions and working as a team. I look forward now to focusing on the household of God.

I can already sense the Lord providing me with refreshment that has been long needed. Even in doing work that I enjoy with people that I love I realize I must have some margin in my life and time to fill the emotional and spiritual tank. What a great encouragement it is to have the freedom and encouragement and understanding of the leadership and body at CCC.
This week I performed a funeral for a family member of someone who attends CCC. Five people prayed to trust Christ as their Savior. What a magnificent God we have who provides hope in our grief.
As he has many times during weddings or funerals that I perform, Jerry sang. I was again reminded of the gift God has given Jerry. His crystal clear rendition of two hymns caused me to again make him promise he will sing at my funeral (not that I have any immediate plans).

Connected

The recent church health survey we took at CCC showed you want more opportunity to get connected to one another. You were heard loud and clear. This summer a pilot group has started to give a test run on a new kind of home group that is larger than a typical small group. After working through the beta version we will roll out some more "mini-church" groups by the end of the summer that will also work in coordination with a new round of small groups. Be in prayer as we seek to create optimum enviroments for authentic fellowship and equipping.

Prayer/Worship

We enjoyed a tremendous evening of sharing and prayer and singing to the Lord last night. I am extremely thankful for the freedom we enjoy at CCC and worship that is not contrived or forced. A big thanks goes to Jil and the Forum Band for again bringing huge hearts and musicianship that never comes off as showy. Jil and Brannon...you will be missed.

Filled

"...that you may be filled with the fulness of God." Ephesians 3:19 provides us with a phrase that sounds Herculean. Only this isn't mythical stuff, but a prayer that Paul prays for all believers. Would he pray for something that isn't possible? I don't think so either. How can we be filled with God? We will talk about it the next couple weeks. Can't wait for Sunday and the incredible worship time at CCC.
