WORSHIP | DESCRIBING WORSHIP

The elders of CCC have prepared a worship narrative that presents a philosophy of CCC worship.  The worship narrative is a result of an extensive study that looked at every instance “worship” was mentioned in the Old and New Testament.

Describing Worship

Several words are translated “worship” throughout the Old and New Testament that identify different aspects of the practice.

These words include references to:

  • Service and sacrifice that is directed toward God.
  • The physical posture of submission to acknowledge the sovereignty of God.
  • Specific acts of reverence

Worship is an active response to God that declares His worth.  Such responses are varied and spring from humble and grateful hearts.  The physical expressions of worship spring from hearts moved to express some aspect of God’s transcendence and to recognize human frailty and finiteness.
